A new arrival is on the way...

I heard that congratulations are in order for the Lyana family, who are expecting the newest addition this September. In honor of baby, this thread is about the celebration of new life!

Will he/she be a Virgo or a Libra?

lyana virgo3.gif
Virgo babies (August 23 - September 22), thrive on routine and are perfectionists. Don't even think about changing bath time or breakfast -- your baby will be very fussy and upset. Virgo's are very particular about what they like and can amuse themselves for hours with a simple toy. Your Virgo baby will talk earlier than other babies. Other Virgo's include Sophia Loren and Van Morrison.

Libra babies (September 23 - October 22), are very sensitive and hate injustice and the unhappy side of life. Libra kids learn better from experience and intuition and are mature at a very early age. Help your Libra baby by getting him involved with music and the arts, as this will appeal to Libra's idealistic nature. Other famous Libra's include Paul Simon and Julie Andrews.

Lyana, your baby is very fortunate to be born in the 21st century. Just look at the difference in infant products from when I was born...

1950-s diaper pins.jpg We didn't have these plush Huggies. Nope, we had diapers that had to be rinsed out and washed. Occasionally, my older sister would flush one down the toilet.

Baby baths were a little different.

My, bottle warmers have sure changed!

And bassinets ~

(I'm not sure what that wire is for...good reception?)

Strollers have come a long way.

There's still Gerber food, strained spinach anyone?

But baby bottles have definitely made progress!
Here's a pictoral of the history of the feeding bottle.
Lyana, there was even a banana bottle! Really! Here it is!

I loved this picture of a "dummy tree" in England, where toddlers hang their pacifiers when they give them up!

Thank heavens some things don't change. There is still that wonderful book by Dorothy Kunhardt, Pat the Bunny...

...along with a Christmas edition and other goodies :-)

For great baby gifts, this seems like a good place to start ~
Bunny Feathers Baby Gifts. They carry items from Little Darlings in the UK, where celebrities and royalty shop! I'm sure the comrades could find something there, too!

I love these baby chandeliers and lamps. Here's my favorite ~

On the lighter side, here are some hilarious, REAL baby names, from Fay's original link, Baby's named a bad, bad thing!

THE INFANT

THY heart's fond treasure, doting mother,
Is fresh from skies divinely bland;
Its eyes' soft lustre is no other
Than radiance of the sunny land.
So fragile and so low descended,
So far removed from its celestial power,
It need with angel care be tended,
Or it may wither in an hour.
Then gently to thy bosom press it,
And breathe thy love notes in its ear;
Their music has the power to bless it
With dreams of its own native sphere.
A seraph chord astray from heaven,
Oh, may it here no discord learn,
But, mellow as the voice of even,
Back to the sunny land return!
