It killed me to cut the part where Mike Wallace told him how good he looked. Fair use, as I’ve often said, is a stern mistress.
I also deliberately cut the part that’s available in the sidebar at CBS (see update below). Watch that first — the stuff about “cultural exchage” and living side by side in peace with other nations is precious — then come back, open a beer and take a drink whenever he repeats a left-wing talking point. When he mentions the 45 million Americans without health care, read this and finish the bottle.
LOL! The Fall issue of Vanity Fair arrived. I hear it's as thick as a phone book. She's been reading all the ads; she finished them this morning. Now she's reading the articles :-)
And now thanks to Dominick Dunne, I can tell you all the dish about the Spelling household. They threw this huge party for Prince Charles, and they didn't let anyone in the house, they had the party in tents, in the yard. And they made everyone use portapotties.
Damn it. joem, I lost my G3 Live in Concert CD (source of this) and I can't find the mp3s either. I bet they were on the old laptop that I got rid of. I'm listening to Strange Beautiful Music instead. I wonder where I put the damn thing.

I'll wait and drink in a bit then, catching up with bloggie :-)
Catch up with bloggie? Impossible. Bloggie is like a stream. When you pick a spot to dip your hand in it and taste it, so you can say "THIS is what Bloggie tastes like", unbeknownst to you, a few feet upstream, a hippo has just pooped in the water and changed the flavor of it again.
BTW, joem, do you like to rip your CDs to mp3 for listening while on the computer? I always used Chris Myden's "Uberized" method (Exact Audio Copy + Lame encoder/alt-preset-standard) on Windows, but now that I'm using a Mac I just let iTunes rip them to aac files. I can't really tell the difference on my speakers anyway, but supposedly audiophiles with sticks in their butts endorse the eac/lame/alt-preset-standard combination as indistinguishable from CD so I was ripping to that based on the idea that I might one day own speakers good enough that I could tell the difference.
I never bothered with the audiophile stuff for my computer - the sound's just not that great anyway. I've been using MusicMatch for a few years now. I recently used Windows Media to burn some mp3's (I think it was for the Majestic Void) disc - which is probably why the naming convention was so weird).

And I'm out of beer :(
Good God man, go out and get some.
Everything's closed here.
I'll have to make do with Woodford Reserve.
Such a nakba. L'chaim, joem, and zorkie too, if you're out there :-)
L'chaim, my friend.
So, where is zorkie? (Last post: 08/12/06 10:42 pm - that's around 23 hours. )
Secret mission..? New game? Or just working and lurking?

The arrival of Vanity Fair every month is always an event with zorkie :-)
But this is the best issue all year, so it's doubly-so.

Anyway. Hello bloggie.
LMAO!
Hi zorkie :-)
Hi darlings :-)
Hello my sweet :-) Are you drinking anything yet?
No, not yet, I didn't want to interrupt my serious reading. What should I drink?
Hiya zorkeleh!
Ma nishma?
joem, a very lazy sunday is what's happening :-) It's lovely and I should do it more often.
A beer. Wine will make you sleepy, and tomorrow you might not have as much time to finish reading VF.
Aww...
You should drink gin, the firey local liquor of England.
Next thing you'll tell me I gotta find posts for tomorrow...

Nah, relax. The posts you're going to find for tomorrow have already been in the hippo tonight.
I don't have any gin but I would love some cognac but that will knock me out :-)

Er, I guess I hadn't noticed that trend. Maybe travel writers tend to be lightweight drinkers?
Beer, woman. Beer.

Thanks! And thanks you little hippo!
Or at least that they're not used to drinking liquor straight.
Beer, woman. Beer.
Let's compromise and drink wine! Whaddaya say?
Back on good terms with the hippo?
Just wait till you get beaten to the punch tomorrow..
;-)

All right, but you'll have to wait for me to join you, I'm already in the middle of a beer :-)
I'll wait and drink in a bit then, catching up with bloggie :-)
joem, I'm very behind on the news and it's a good thing, it looks like.
It's good to take a break from the news every now and then.
There's nothing ever really new, anyway.
So, I take it you're a big Satriani fan. :-)

ev, LMAO!!

Yes :-) Everything I've listened to, I've loved.

Sorry, here's a link. For people who put an alarming amount of thought into ripping their CDs onto their computer.

Fashizzle. Like I said, I don't even bother trying to figure out a way to do something equivalent on the Mac, and I can't tell the difference.
I should get me a Mac one of these days.
They're surprisingly inexpensive nowadays.
zorkie, did you ever catch up to bloggie?
Lost in the bloggie-sphere, no doubt..
I've got to get to bed.
Layla tov, my friends.
Layla tov, joem!
ev, still running! I think I see bloggie around the next curve! Just a few more huff... puff... just a few more miles and I'll be caught up!
Layla tov, joem!
L'chaim evaristako mou.
LMAO! L'chaim zorkopoula mou :-D
kian, lol!
When I first read ev's #2, I thought to myself "Wow, I can't believe Ahmadetc. discussed "not getting any" on 60 minutes!".
Then I realized it was in response to joem's lack of beer.
