French station Charles De Gaulle in Indian Ocean

A brief but very interesting item at Stratfor:

France is going to keep the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier stationed near Pakistan in the Indian Ocean May 5-25 to help NATO troops in Afghanistan, French army officials said April 5. The carrier will be the base for about 20 planes providing aerial support to NATO troops, who are increasing their numbers in Afghanistan and moving into the country's southern and eastern provinces.
The Charles De Gaulle is, of course, France's only aircraft carrier, a nuclear-powered ship that is France's primary means of naval power projection. Are the French gearing up to support a US strike on Iran? And is it just a coincidence that NATO is moving to the parts of Afghanistan most proximate to Iran?

The Charles de Gaulle! That ought convince those mullahs we are serious!

I'm sure the de Gaulle will be useful some day, most likely as an artifical reef...

I think it's great that we're cooperating with France instead of recapturing it. Go France!

I don't see France fighting Iran, but the De Gaulle could draw some Iranian anti-ship fire. Infidel carriers look alike to them.

I hope the French have the little radiation problem fixed.

Why look! Here comes the Charles de Gaulle now!

Lady Red, too funny!! Beagle, how's the baby doing?
I can't even start to seriously believe that France is going to help us fight anyone.

He has quite a diaper rash going on there, Aridog...

Zachary is kicking ass and taking names. But so it seemed with Alexander at this point. I'm having some nasty flashbacks to last year to be honest. Some pictures just won't leave the brain, as if branded in there. But I'm trying to accept the fact that's normal and soldier on.

There are some things about Alexander that now seem suspicious (based on Zachary) which didn't then. Alexander may have had some unknown, rare metabolic problem.

But that's just a guess the way the vaccination theory is a guess. Despite, well, every test known to man we still don't know what happened to any certainty. Doctors are trying to prevent the unknown metabolic angle with some precautionary measures based on Alexander's tests. But none of that really should have killed him.

I'm a bundle of tweaked nerves right now.

Beagle, the human mind evolved to be really excellent at finding patterns. Just keep that in mind when you have these deja-vu moments-most of the time it's nothing.

Beagle, God bless and watch over you all.

Did they tow the Charles DeGaulle to the Indian Ocean, or did it actually get there under its own power?

Things that make you say hmmm...

My first thought was: did they break down there?

#15 Baldy at 6:42 pm on Apr 07, 2006

I thought de Gaulle was dead.

Guys and girls from US,

About the french carrier... I now that you have a grudge against french, but when they don't help, you are angry and when they help you are not happy also...

Charles DeGaulle is the sigle non-US flat carrier in the world and it is state of the art. It can be a serious strategic asset for the coalition there.

I think that you can start to appreciate an effort that is made from your allies side (beside keeping grudge for past hickups).
