DEBKAfile broke the news (thanks to RC Neo-Jew
for alerting us), and the Jerusalem Post is now confirming it: Iran is paying Palestinian groups to fire Kassam rockets into Israel from Gaza.
Here's what's interesting about this story. It isn't that Iranian money is paying for Israeli blood.
That's just rehashed old news. No, the real news is that Olmert has kept digging and found a new personal low: he's willing to allow Israelis to live in terror and die uselessly in order to curry favor with the antisemitic governments of Europe, buying a form of "credit" in the future to deal with the terrorists, in exchange for Israeli lives today. How can a sovereign nation submit to such a demeaning bargain?
According to government officials, Olmert argued at Wednesday's meeting that the cease-fire had strategic value, and that Israel's policy of restraint had earned it "a lot of understanding and appreciation" around the world that would provide "leeway" in the future.
Israel, according to officials in Olmert's office, can afford to continue to observe the "overall parameters" of the cease-fire, and can always take more forceful action down the line.
Olmert has argued in recent days that a strong military response would only unite Hamas and Fatah.
No, another Lebanon
would only unite Hamas and Fatah. A truly strong
military response would send both running under their mothers' skirts, be they united or disunited. A truly strong
military response would have widows wailing from Beirut to Gaza, from Damascus to Tehran.
Based on the government decision, the IDF will continue to refrain from targeting Kassam workshops and will only fire at people if they are "ticking bombs" - terrorists on their way to, or in the midst of, an attack.
How can any journal record such inanity with a straight face? It defies logic. It defies mockery. It meets insanity, and bests it. It exceeds the insanity of suicide.
The casus belli are mushrooming, yet the useless old sheepdog Olmert meekly lets the wolves pick off more of his flock, hoping that the other wolves will overlook a token snarl later, once he has let them have their fill. Ehud Olmert can go to hell. Israel will go to hell too if he isn't replaced, soonish. It may already be too late. Is Ehud Olmert actually one of the wolves? I can't tell the difference any more.
