The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. We remember. We wear our poppy, pinned on the left hand side of our coats, the side closest to our hearts.
We remember our grandfathers, and great uncles, and grand cousins, who fought and were wounded and died in WWI. The war to end all wars.
We remember our fathers, and our uncles, and our cousins, who fought and were wounded and died in WWII. The last great war.
We remember our fathers, and brothers, and cousins and nephews, who fought and were wounded and died in Vietnam, and Korea, and Bosnia, and Somalia, and Lebanon, and Afghanistan.
We remember them all. And we say a huge and heartfelt thanks to them, and to their families.
We wear our poppy. And we will never forget.
