Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
Read the Cease and Desist letter sent to the Kerry campaign from a Swift Boat veteran who is also an attorney. I was going to publish an excerpt but something else caught my eye.

'Twas the night before Christmas and we were afloat

Somewhere in Cambodia in our little boat.

While the river was lightened by rockets red glare

No one but the President knew we were there.

The crew was all nestled deep down in their bunks,

While the Spook and I watched the sampans and junks.

Our mission was secret, so secret in fact,

No one else would remember it when we got back.

When out on the water there arose such a clatter

I leaped down from the bridge to see what was the matter.

The incoming friendly was starting to flash

And I knew that the ARVN's were having a bash.

The snap of friendly fire on the warm tropic air

Convinced me for sure no one knew we were there,

On a clandestine mission so secret it's true

That I'm still convinced only Tricky Dick knew.

While I huddled for safety in the tub on the bow,

I thought of a title, "Apocalypse Now."

To give to the films I was making each day

To show all the voters when I made my big play.

As I sat there sweating in my lucky flight jacket,

Spook said, "Merry Christmas!" and tossed me a packet.

And what to my wondering eyes did appear,

But a new lucky cap, which I still have right here.

I keep it tucked here, in this leather brief case,

Just sharing with the press its secretive place

As I regale them again with my senate refrain,

That Christmas in Cambodia is seared into my brain.

Don't bother to quibble with history my friend,

By pointing out Johnson was President then.

Don't listen to Swiftees who try to explain,

For I tell you that night is seared into my brain.

Down Hibbard, down Lonsdale, and you too O'Neill,

So you don't remember? Well it's something I feel.

I don't need all you Swiftvets to support my campaign,

Cause Christmas in Cambodia is seared into my brain,

Into my brain, into my brain, into my brain...

No incitement here
An Egyptian newspaper columnist who wrote that Jews engage in the ritual murder of Muslims and Christians defended his use of such anti-Semitic rhetoric as a tactic in the "battle against international Zionism."

In an interview on Thursday about his column in last week's Aqidati, Hossam Wahba refused to acknowledge that his commentary could be considered anti-Semitic.

In his column in the Islamic affairs weekly, whose name means "My Doctrine," Wahba wrote that the magazine had "decided to wage a battle against international Zionism in order to expose the extent to which terrorism exists in Zionist" doctrine.

Aqidati is a small magazine that is part of a family of publications that includes the flagship Al-Gomhuria, a major pro-government daily.

Columnist Wahba turned to another anti-Semitic myth, the "blood libel" of Jews ritually sacrificing non-Jews, that was used for centuries to provoke violence against Jews.

"One need only point out that they are 'blood suckers' according to Talmudic dictates, which urge them to murder and draw the blood of Muslims in particular, and Christians even more so, and to use this blood in religious Israeli rituals," Wahba wrote.

He said he had taken note of the outrage that followed the columns on the Holocaust in another Islamic weekly, but said: "I'm not worried. We are enjoying freedom of the press."

A Jew in Baghdad
"While patrolling the streets of Baghdad, I often got involved in political conversations with secular, educated, and "moderate" Iraqis about the war against Iraq, Israel, the Jews, and America. To my surprise, most of them held wildly irrational beliefs about the world. For example, most of them would swear that Ariel Sharon pressured a reluctant President Bush to go to war against Iraq [or] that the CIA put Saddam Hussein, a CIA agent, in power to allow U.S. forces to take Iraqi oil and impoverish Iraq. Finally, they were convinced that the CIA is an organization controlled by the Mossad and that powerful Zionists dominate Washington, D.C.! In fact, most Arabs in the world believe these absurdities. These beliefs are the product of years of intense brainwashing by their education[al] system, mass media and political and religious leaders. These beliefs turn educated, intelligent Arab family men into hijackers that slam passenger planes into buildings and homicide bombers that murder as may Jews as possible on Israeli buses.

We are not at war against terrorism; we are at war against an ideology. I consider this ideology to be the product of a dangerous mental disease. It is a disease that has infected millions of Arabs into believing that by destroying the enemy -- the Jew, the State of Israel, and the "Great Satan" America -- past Arab pride and glory [will] be restored. This mental illness is slowly but deliberately plunging the world into World War III.

In the 1930s, a similar disease threw the world into World War II. It was a disease that infected millions of Germans into believing that by obliterating the Jews and conquering non- Aryan nations, Germany would attain unsurpassed glory and freedom. Fortunately, America and its allies mustered all their efforts, resources and determination to crush and eradicate the German disease. Unlike the Germans during WWII, the Arab world is fighting a multidimensional war against America and Israel. First, Arab nations are using the United Nations as a powerful tool to discredit Israel and the United States. Second, oil-producing Arab nations use oil as a means to pressure the United States and Europe to adopt biased foreign policies against Israel. In addition, oil is used to deter many nations from trading with Israel. Third, Arab governments ensure that Arab children are fed anti-Semitic and anti-American material in their schools, thereby assuring a constant supply of future terrorists. Fourth, Arab public relation spreads lies and twisted facts to Western media, thereby fueling anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli sentiment in the West. Finally, Arab nations promote, finance or condone terrorist activity and organizations."

Turncoat
Ed Koch writes:

My decision to vote for the reelection of President George W. Bush, despite the fact that I am a life-long Democrat, has caused some to call me a turncoat. But am I really? Or am I moving in a direction the Democratic Party itself should be going?

Why have I endorsed George W. Bush when I don't agree with him on a single domestic issue? Because I believe the issue of international terrorism trumps all other issues. I don't believe the Democratic Party has the stomach and commitment to deliver on this issue. I believe terrorism will be with us for many years to come.

Over the years, I have expressed my anxieties at the escalating worldwide anti-Semitism that now abounds in Western European countries such as France, England, Germany, Belgium, Holland and throughout Eastern Europe, including Russia. We haven't seen the likes of this rising tide of hatred directed at Jews since the 30s. So, of course, I am interested in the views of the two presidential candidates towards Israel and its security.

Read it all: I've been branded a 'turncoat'
