The Holy Sites
The Shiites are upset about the battle in Najaf. It has a holy site, the Shrine of Imam Ali. The U.S. forces have said they're doing their best to avoid destroying any holy sites. But I don't think the Shiites are listening.

In Iran, they were really pissed off. The Foreign Ministry denounced the U.S. forces as "inhumane and horrifying" and "not committed to any morality." The Revolutionary Guards did their bit by urging people to rally after Friday prayers to "show their hatred toward inhumane acts of the United States."

And the lovely Mr. Mussa of the Arab League adds to the seriousness of the issue by warning us about "dangerous consequences." I'm shaking from fear.

Meanwhile a Lebanese Ayatollah urges more war. "It is the responsibility of all to take on the burden of expelling the occupiers from Iraq through any means possible."

The Indian Shiites are upset too. Everyone is upset. They organized anti-American rallies and gave statements such as "this is a very grave situation for the sentiments of Shia community anywhere in the world. We will oppose this in whatever the manner we can."

Even Mr. Ansari, a Shiite religious leader in Kashmir is upset about Americans "totally hellbent to destroy the Muslim sacred places."

"Even in the earlier war of Christians and Muslims, nobody touched our religious places," he said.

Fighting angers Shiites abroad

On Tuesday, May 29, 1453, Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror entered the vanquished city late in the afternoon and rode to Hagia Sophia. He was amazed at its beauty and decided to convert the Cathedral into his imperial mosque.

In the year 1009, al-Hakim, the Caliph of Egypt, ordered the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem destroyed. The demolition of this site, so holy to Christians, began with the empty tomb where Jesus had allegedly been buried, and continued with the dome.

If it's in the paper...
From the newspaper Al-Ahram (Egypt) - Egyptian daily owned by the Egyptian government. Al-Ahram is the largest Arabic paper in the world and has established the Al-Ahram Regional Press Institute.

"…What is the difference between the Zionist Jews and the German Nazis?

1. The German Nazis in Germany wanted to expand in such a way that they were the first to take their lebensraum. As for the Israeli Jews, they came from tens of countries in order to occupy the land of Palestine and expand it…

2. The Nazis used prisons, concentration camps, torturing and killing, and the Zionists were not behindhand…

3. The Nazis burned entire Soviet villages and cities, killed their inhabitants and uprooted their trees. The Israelis did the same things in hundreds of Palestinian villages…

4. The Nazis used weapons that are unacceptable internationally and the Israelis use those weapons.

5. The Nazis invented the term 'the pure German race' and the Israelis took out the term 'God's chosen people' from the notebooks of past centuries.

6. The Nazis despised the international agreements and the Israelis continue to regard them with disdain and reject them with clear arrogance and haughtiness.

7. If the Nazis looked upon the Slavic people, Jews and the Gypsies with disdain, then the Jews are behaving with the same disregard and are being haughty towards all of the world's people.

8. The Zionists used the terror groups of Hagana and Stern, and the Nazis used the SS groups, the Commandos and others.

9. The Nazis transformed Germany into a closed, racist, isolated and hated country. Most of the governing Jews in Israel are doing it until today, as Israel is an closed and isolated country, of which most of its citizens are employed in security and spying activities…

10. If Gobles, the German Minister of Propaganda, believed in 'lie, lie and lie', then Sharon and his ancestors from among Israel's leaders were, and are still, 'lying, lying and lying', and this is one of their characteristics.

11. If the German Nazi Diplomacy transformed their Embassies and delegations to spying dens, the Israelis by far exceeded the Nazis, since Embassies and some members of the Jewish Diaspora (communities) became nests not only for spying but also for terror, kidnapping and the fabrication of facts.

12. As Nazism was a dark and obscure horizon with no future, Zionism is entering the same way. The Israelis will not be able to be happy in life if they will continue to hold the unjust political Zionism. Most of the Jews will not be able to recall their humanity with their staying in the big Zionist prison - a prison of the establishment of their freedom on account of others' freedom, and their happiness on the account of the suffering of others. Those are some of the common points between Nazism and Zionism, i.e. the Zionazism that Israel's heads and spiritual leaders operate... "

Egyptian Media - Anti-Semitism

Let's see... Which stage would this be?

The Beeb
"An in-depth study released by London attorney Trevor Asserson's bbcwatch indicates that the BBC has used their documentary films on world events not to provide essential, impartial news context, but rather as a platform for an unremitting ideological mission: 'a campaign to vilify Israel.'

Of the seventeen documentary programs the BBC produced on Israel over the past four years, only one presented Israel in a positive light; the other sixteen were overwhelmingly pro-Palestinian, casting Israel as a brutal aggressor nation.

These programs are generally well-advertised several days beforehand, and are typically broadcast at peak viewing times. Here are just a few of the anti-Israel documentaries aired by the BBC recently, with bbcwatch's comments:

The Ugly War: Children of Vengeance (2/24/02) : The hidden world of Palestinian terrorists (referred to throughout as 'militias' and 'martyrs'). "Terrorist bombings of Israeli civilians are painted as an entirely legitimate activity, almost heroic."

Suicide Killers: Everyman (4/3/02) : The psychology and ideology of the suicide bomber worldwide. "One is made to feel sorry for and sympathetic with the Palestinian suicide bomber who says he 'loved life and wanted to be a doctor. Occupation has murdered my dreams.'"

The War Party (5/18/03) : A group of conservative Washington politicians ― the 'neocons' ―are depicted as dangerous or even evil. "This is a highly sensitive issue," the narrator says, but "the majority of neo-conservatives have been and remain Jewish...are strongly pro-Zionist and want to topple regimes in the Middle East to help Israel..." Says bbcwatch, "It is hard to find clear blue water between these theories and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

Days That Shook the World: Birth of Israel (1/28/04) : History of the birth of Israel, told partially through the eyes of an imaginary pair of Palestinian brothers. Presents "the fundamental unfairness underpinning the existence of the Jewish state. It is suggested that the Jews wish to expel all the Palestinians," conveniently ignoring the fact that the Jews accepted the 1947 UN partition plan, while the Arabs rejected it.

The reputation and broad reach of the BBC ensure the immense and potentially dangerous influence of its material, fanning the flames of worldwide anti-Semitism. Reports bbcwatch: 'It is not fanciful to contemplate that, by portraying Israel in an unnecessarily negative light, the BBC might itself unwittingly encourage aggression not only against Israelis, but also against UK Jewish citizens.'
